SKY GARDEN PRIVACY POLICY

Sky Garden is a gardening community and plant marketplace that allows users to discover, list, sell, swap and give away plants, create Digital Plant Passports, record plant journeys, post wanted-plant requests, communicate with other members and participate in gardening discussions.

This Privacy Policy explains what information Sky Garden collects, how it is used, when it may be shared, and the choices available to users.

  1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

Depending on the features you use, Sky Garden may collect or process the following information:

Account and Profile Information

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Sky Garden user/account ID
  • Country
  • City
  • Area
  • Profile photo or custom avatar settings

Plant and Marketplace Information

  • Plant names and categories
  • Plant descriptions and seller notes
  • Sell, Swap, Give Away and Wanted Plant listings
  • Listing prices where applicable
  • Plant listing photographs
  • Digital Plant Passport information
  • Plant Journey photographs and notes
  • Grow One Plant Challenge participation
  • Marketplace reviews and reputation information

Community Content

  • Public gardening posts
  • Public comments and replies
  • Photos voluntarily attached to community discussions
  • Mentions and community participation

Private Communications

  • Private in-app text messages
  • Voice messages sent through one-to-one chat

Location Information
Sky Garden may request approximate and precise foreground device location when a user opens the Nearby Plant Map.

Location used only to calculate nearby plants is not permanently stored unless the user separately chooses to enable Nearby Map visibility.

If a user enables nearby visibility, Sky Garden may privately store location coordinates in order to provide the feature. Other members are shown only an approximate area location rather than the user’s exact stored GPS position.

Marketplace and App Activity
Sky Garden may process:

  • Listing views
  • Unique viewer counts
  • Listing opens
  • Challenge participation
  • Reputation activity
  • Reports
  • Blocked-user records
  • Moderation and safety events

These records help provide app functionality, measure post performance, improve trust and reduce abuse.

Technical Information
We may process technical information required to:

  • Authenticate users
  • Maintain user sessions
  • Operate app features
  • Diagnose technical failures
  • Protect accounts and the service
  • Prevent fraud, spam and abuse
  1. PLANT PHOTOS, IMAGE OPTIMIZATION AND WATERMARKING

When a user selects a plant photograph for a listing, Sky Garden may automatically resize and compress the image before upload to improve loading speed and reduce unnecessary data usage.

Sky Garden may also add a visible “Sky Garden” watermark to plant listing images before they are uploaded.

This processing is intended to improve application performance and help identify images published through Sky Garden.

Users should upload only photographs they have the right to use.

  1. DIGITAL PLANT PASSPORTS

Sky Garden allows users to create a Digital Plant Passport for a real plant.

A Plant Passport may include:

  • A unique Plant Passport ID
  • Plant name
  • Plant photograph
  • Species or AI-assisted identification
  • Owner information
  • General city/country
  • Date added
  • Growth stage
  • Plant category
  • QR code
  • Growth and care history
  • Plant Journey updates
  • Grow One Plant Challenge activity

Plant Passport information may be visible to other Sky Garden members when the passport is public or connected to a marketplace listing.

QR codes may be used to open the corresponding Plant Passport.

  1. PLANT JOURNEY AND GROW ONE PLANT CHALLENGE

Users may record growth updates, photographs and notes about their plants.

Users may also participate in the Grow One Plant Challenge.

Sky Garden may store challenge participation and display how many members have accepted a particular plant challenge.

  1. LISTING VIEW COUNTS

Sky Garden may record when authenticated members open marketplace listings.

This information may be used to display listing performance such as the number of unique people who have viewed a listing.

Sky Garden may avoid counting repeated opens from the same user as separate unique viewers and may exclude the listing owner’s own views from the displayed unique-view count.

  1. AI-ASSISTED FEATURES

Sky Garden provides AI-assisted gardening features.

These may include:

  • AI-assisted plant profiles
  • Plant-care information
  • AI-assisted plant identification
  • Virtual gardening-community contributors

When a user chooses to use an AI feature, relevant information may be securely sent through Sky Garden’s backend for AI processing.

Depending on the feature, this may include:

  • Plant name
  • Plant category
  • Seller or owner notes
  • Plant photograph
  • Relevant public gardening discussion text

Sky Garden currently uses OpenAI for certain AI-assisted functionality.

Users should not submit passwords, financial information, identity documents or other highly sensitive personal information to AI features.

AI-generated content can be inaccurate and should not be treated as guaranteed professional horticultural, agricultural, medical, legal or financial advice.

AI community contributors are identified as virtual or AI gardening contributors and are not presented as real human members.

Sky Garden may use information to:

  • Create and manage user accounts
  • Authenticate users
  • Display user profiles
  • Operate the plant marketplace
  • Display Sell, Swap, Give Away and Wanted listings
  • Provide Digital Plant Passports and QR links
  • Maintain Plant Journey histories
  • Operate Grow One Plant Challenges
  • Show Nearby Plant Map results
  • Enable private text and voice messaging
  • Enable public gardening discussions
  • Provide AI-assisted gardening functionality

Users should not publish information they do not want other members to see.

  1. PRIVATE MESSAGES

Private text and voice messages are intended for the participants in the conversation.

Sky Garden may process private communication where technically necessary to deliver the service, enforce safety systems, investigate a valid report, prevent fraud or abuse, comply with law, or provide authorized support.

Private messages are not public community posts.

  1. USER-GENERATED CONTENT AND SAFETY

Sky Garden includes user-generated marketplace, messaging and community features.

Users can report or block other members.

Sky Garden may moderate or restrict content involving:

  • Scams or fraud
  • Spam
  • Harassment
  • Threats
  • Sexual or obscene material
  • Extremist content
  • Dangerous abuse
  • Repeated rule violations
  • Other prohibited or harmful activity

Content may be removed and accounts may be restricted, suspended or otherwise acted upon where necessary to protect the community.

  1. SERVICE PROVIDERS

Sky Garden currently uses third-party service providers to operate parts of the application.

Supabase
Supabase is used for services including:

  • Authentication
  • Database infrastructure
  • File storage
  • Server and Edge Functions

OpenAI
OpenAI may process information submitted to supported AI-assisted features through Sky Garden’s backend.

These providers process information according to their own applicable terms and privacy practices.

  1. DATA SHARING

Sky Garden does not sell users’ personal data to advertisers.

Information may be processed or shared with service providers where necessary to operate Sky Garden.

Information may also be disclosed where reasonably necessary to:

  • Comply with applicable law
  • Respond to lawful requests
  • Protect users
  • Prevent fraud or abuse
  • Investigate security incidents
  • Enforce legal rights or platform rules
  1. FINANCIAL FEATURES AND PAYMENTS

The current Sky Garden Android release does not provide a financial wallet, cryptocurrency, investment service, cash balance, withdrawal service or user-to-user money-transfer service.

Sky Garden does not currently provide internal reward credits as a financial feature.

The current Android release does not contain an active paid digital purchase flow.

Premium features that may appear as “Coming Soon” are preview-only and cannot be purchased in the current release.

For plant marketplace transactions, Sky Garden does not currently collect or hold the buyer’s payment.

Buyers and sellers arrange plant payment, pickup or delivery directly with each other.

Users should exercise normal caution when dealing with other marketplace members.

  1. ADVERTISING

The current Sky Garden release does not use an advertising network to display third-party advertisements.

Sky Garden does not sell user information to advertisers.

  1. DATA SECURITY

Sky Garden uses measures including:

  • Authenticated account access
  • Database access controls
  • Secure network connections
  • Server-side access rules
  • Storage access controls
  • Reporting and blocking tools
  • Safety and moderation mechanisms

No online service can guarantee absolute security, but Sky Garden works to protect user information against unauthorized access, misuse and disclosure.

  1. DATA RETENTION

Information may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to:

  • Provide Sky Garden services
  • Maintain user accounts
  • Maintain marketplace and plant history
  • Protect users
  • Resolve reports or disputes
  • Prevent fraud and abuse
  • Meet legal, security or record-keeping obligations

Some limited safety, fraud-prevention or legal records may be retained after account deletion where necessary and permitted by law.

  1. LOCATION CONTROLS

Users control whether they enable Nearby Map visibility.

Turning off Nearby Map sharing stops the user’s public nearby visibility.

Sky Garden does not intend to display a user’s exact private GPS coordinates to other marketplace members.

  1. ACCOUNT DELETION

Users can request permanent account deletion directly inside the Sky Garden application:

Sky Garden also provides a public web account-deletion request page for users who cannot access the application.

When an account is deleted, associated account data is deleted or de-identified except for limited information that may need to be retained for security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, legal or accounting obligations.

  1. CHILDREN

Sky Garden is a general gardening community and marketplace and is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children where parental consent is legally required.

Users must comply with applicable age and legal requirements in their country when creating or using an account.

  1. USER CHOICES

Depending on the feature, users can:

  • Edit profile information
  • Change profile photographs or avatars
  • Control Nearby Map visibility
  • Delete their own marketplace content where supported
  • Report users or content
  • Block members
  • Request account deletion
  • Choose whether to submit content to certain AI-assisted features
  1. INTERNATIONAL USE

Sky Garden is intended to support a global gardening community.

Because users may access Sky Garden from different countries, information may be processed using infrastructure or service providers located outside the user’s country.

Applicable privacy protections may differ between jurisdictions.

  1. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY

Sky Garden may update this Privacy Policy as application features, legal requirements or service providers change.

Where appropriate, users may be informed of material changes through the application, website or another reasonable method.

The latest version of this Privacy Policy should always be available on the official Sky Garden website.
